In the Beginning…

This is not a drill, I repeat, this is not a drill!!

One moment you’re in college, dating, partying it up, going out all the time, drinking, working full time, living life….then BOOM… you read the pregnancy test and it’s positive. Suddenly you’re whole body is covered with emotion. Happiness, Anxiousness, Sadness, every single emotion you could feel is shoving itself down your throat.

At least that’s how I felt, and this pregnancy was planned!  Ladies, there is not a class or tutorial you can look up to be prepared for what’s to come when entering motherhood. You can have all the money in the world and still not be ready. Motherhood is a different experience for everyone.  I read ”What to expect, when expecting”, and it still did not do much for me but give me some general knowledge. How have I been getting through transitioning? Talking to other mothers has helped me so much, than any article I have read or any mom apps I have downloaded.

I have created this blog in the hopes to inspire other new moms out there. To tell you, you are not alone. I will be discussing all the goods and AALLL the bads that comes with becoming a mother, along with other Lifestyle topics. I’m no mom expert, (those don’t exist) I will make mistakes along the way, but I can only grow from them and be better. I am learning right along with you.  It is not often that motherhood, never mind black motherhood is talked about and I want to change that.  If you’re looking for someone to keep it 100 with you and get down, you have come to the right place. I will try to be as transparent as possible. As I take on this journey to find myself, become someone and juggle motherhood, I hope you enjoy and share with others.

Peace, Love & Melanin

There’s not enough classes or tutorials in the world to prepare us for motherhood, huh? Welp, thanks for telling the truth lol. Now I can’t freak out TOO MUCH when I start having kids.

I am so proud of you in what you are doing. This is helping me get some real knowledge on being a mother when that time comes. Your writing skills are great by the way. Stay strong and blessed!

I agree with you, Ij. No amount of books read will prepare you enough; what has money got to do with pregnancy? Or motherhood? I feel its a different experience for every woman and one woman’s story cannot be another. Every mother has her own story to tell and that’s what makes it special and unique. Motherhood changes everything, minimize the fun and youthfulness but it’s a gift to be cherished <3
